NEW YORK – As the Blue Jays struggle toward the seasons finish, its becoming increasingly difficult to find something positive to discuss. Cheap Tyrell Williams Jersey . Heres one: Dioner Navarros play. The 30-year-old catcher told hes proven something to himself during his first year in Toronto. “That I can play everyday,” said Navarro. “I know I can hit. I know I can call a game. I know I can throw but Ive still got it on me that I cant play everyday. Obviously Im throwing the last bullets out there.” Navarro got the start behind the plate on Saturday afternoon, marking the 107th time this season hed caught at least part of a game. The last time Navarro squatted in more than 100 games was back in 2009 when he played for the Tampa Bay Rays. His season has been welcome in Toronto following J.P. Arencibias disastrous 2013. In that regard, it could have been Navarro or anybody else putting on the tools of ignorance for the Blue Jays this season: the replacement was, by default, going to be an improvement over the predecessor. But Navarro is third on the club with 68 runs batted-in, far exceeding his previous career high of 54 set in 2008, the year of his only All-Star selection and the season in which his Rays lost in the World Series to Philadelphia. His 101 weighted runs created plus (wRC+) isnt spectacular but is the second highest of his career. Navarros 12 home runs are one off his career high set last season with the Chicago Cubs. Hes developed a strong rapport with veteran pitchers (Mark Buehrle) and youngsters (Marcus Stroman) alike. While there are rumblings about his defence, specifically getting down on balls in the dirt to prevent wild pitches, Navarro is middle-of-the-pack (21 per cent) when it comes to throwing out base stealers. Navarros enjoyed his return to the American League East, “Where I grew up,” he said. Hes enjoyed proving his doubters wrong. The funny thing is he was among them. “You can talk all you want and obviously my mindset is I can do this, but there was still a little doubt, especially being a backup for four years straight and not having to catch more than 50 games a year and you kind of doubt yourself, like can you still do this?” said Navarro. “When I got the opportunity obviously I jumped in and its just been so satisfying.” Nobody mistook Navarro for Arnold Schwarzenegger when he arrived in Dunedin in February and while its doubtful hell be chiseled when players report next spring, Navarro will consult with his personal trainer at the end of the season to develop a more comprehensive plan for 2015. He stayed off the disabled list but Navarro did have a minor issue with his quadriceps earlier in the year. “Im going to try a different program this offseason,” said Navarro. “I felt great throughout the whole season but there were days that [it] wasnt as great but weve still got to grind it out so Im going to prepare myself this offseason for those days and hopefully Ill be better next year.” Theres reason for Navarro to be motivated. Next season will be a contract year. Hell also be working with a young pitching staff that has the potential to be elite. “Our future is bright. Our future is really bright,” said Navarro. “Weve got Stroman. Weve got Sanchez, Norris, Pompeys looking really good. Goins is showing some improvement. Everybody, man, everybody. Encarnacion, Bautista, myself, so Im really excited.” LIND NURSING BACK PAIN He wouldnt have started anyway with the Yankees throwing left-hander Chris Capuano on Saturday, but Adam Linds recurring back issues have returned. “Lindys back locked up on him a little bit (Friday) night,” said manager John Gibbons. “Hopefully its not a long-term thing with Lindy but you probably wont see him (Saturday).” Lind has been limited to 91 games this season, largely because of a fractured foot that cost him 28 games in July and August. He did miss 17 games in April and May with a back strain. Used almost exclusively in a platoon scenario this season, Lind has posted a .357/.415/.548 slash line against right-handed pitchers. Thats elite level hitting despite a dip in power (six home runs compared to 23 last season). Linds .398 batting average on balls in play (BABIP) against right-handers this year is higher than his career .315. ENCARNACIONS MRI Edwin Encarnacion is dealing with back pain but it isnt significant enough to keep him out of the lineup. Encarnacion underwent a MRI on Friday afternoon. Manager John Gibbons said the imaging revealed mild inflammation. The 31-year-old homered has shown no ill effects. Playing as the designated hitter, Encarnacion hit a two-run home run in the first inning of Friday nights game and doubled home Jose Bautista in the first inning on Saturday. Cheap LaDainian Tomlinson Jersey .Y. - Phil Varone was the lone scorer in the shootout as the Rochester Americans edged the Toronto Marlies 3-2 on Sunday in American Hockey League action. Cheap Trevor Williams Jersey .com) - Joe Pavelski scored twice to lead the San Jose Sharks in a 5-2 win over the Edmonton Oilers to split a home-and-home set. . Green-Ellis was Cincinnatis leading rusher each of the last two seasons. His role was reduced last year when Giovani Bernard was added to the backfield. Green-Ellis ran for 756 yards and a career-low 3.Once the Blue Jays had made their mega-trades with Miami and the Mets a year ago and signed free agents Melky Cabrera and Maicer Izturis, they became the darlings of Las Vegas. With the World Series over and Boston winning its third title since 2004, the odds are already out for next year on various gaming sites and on, the Blue Jays have literally gone from first to worst in the AL East. This year they are listed at 40-1. Granted, making predictions when teams havent really done any serious off-season retooling yet is ludicrous. Nevertheless, Boston is again favoured in the East at 12-1, followed by the Yankees at 16-1, Tampa Bay at 18-1 and Baltimore at 25-1. Interesting that Arizona, the Phillies and the White Sox, who only won 61 games this season are also pegged at (40-1). By the way, the Red Sox are only ranked fifth to repeat as World Series champs. The four teams listed ahead of them are the favoured Los Angeles Dodgers at 5-1, Detroit Tigers and Washington Nationals at 8-1 and St. Louis Cardinals at 10-1. The longest of longshots are Minnesota, Miami and the New York Mets at 100-1. Bang For Their Buck The Red Sox signed seven free agents last off-season. For somewhere in the neighbourhood of $60 million, they landed rightfielder Shane Victorino, first baseman/designated hitter Mike Napoli, leftfielder Jonny Gomes, shortstop Stephen Drew, back-up catcher David Ross, righthander Ryan Dempster and set-up reliever turned star closer Koji Uehara. They didnt have to commit to ridiculous long-term contracts, they basically struck gold with five of those signings and all seven were worth the investment. The Blue Jays on the other hand, partly through injuries, struck out on both their free agents, Melky Cabrera and Maicer Izturis. Boston could lose Napoli and Drew as free agents in the off-season, but that doesnt diminish the job GM Ben Cherington did. Hes s shoo-in for Executive of the Year. Something Special&nbssp; The World Series clincher at Fenway really was something special. Cheap Kellen Winslow Jersey. It was the BoSox eighth Fall Classic title, but only the third time they have won the deciding game at Fenway (1912 - the season the Park opened and they beat the New York Giants in eight games, 1918 - when they defeated the Chicago Cubs, 2013 - with a six-game victory over St. Louis). In 1915 and 1916, the Red Sox beat the Phillies and Brooklyn, at home in the clinchers, but those games were played at the home of Bostons National League club, since the seating capacity at Braves field was much larger than Fenway. Loss Leader If you think the Blue Jays had a terrible season, consider this: Chicago has two teams and they both finished with worse records. The White Sox wound up at 63-99, while the Cubs finished at 66-96. Thats a combined total of 195 losses. That breaks the all-time combined Chicago club mark of 191 losses set back in 1948. What About Jimenez? Here is an interesting free agent pitching possibility for the Blue Jays. Righthander Ubaldo Jimenez who, at the age of 29, seems to have his career back on the rails, rejected his $8 million contract option for next season with Cleveland and has opted to become a free agent. Cleveland can still make him a one-year qualifying offer of around $14 million by Monday. If they do, Jimenez has six days to decline or accept. If he declines and becomes a free agent, any team signing him would lose a first round draft pick. Jimenez bounced back from a 17-loss season, to go 13-9 this season with a 3.30 ERA. He also struck out 13 Twins in the Wild Card clincher that put the Indians back in the post-season for the first time since 2007. In his six years as an established starter in the Majors, he has thrown at least 175 innings every season and has broken 200 innings twice. He has also struck out at least 172 in five of those six years. On a two- or three-year deal, he might be worth the risk.
