First baseman Andrew Vaughn has won USA Baseball’s Golden Spikes Award as the top amateur baseball player Andre Reed Jersey , the first University of California player to earn the honor.
Vaughn earned the 2018 Pac-12 Player of the Year award, hitting .402 in his sophomore season with 14 doubles, a school-recording tying 23 homers and 63 RBIs.
He is the eighth player from the conference to win the award after Bob Horner (1978), Terry Francona (1980), Oddibe McDowell (1984), Mike Kelly (1991), Mark Prior (2001), Tim Lincecum (2006) and Trevor Bauer (2011).
The other finalists for the award, announced Thursday, were Texas infielder Kody Clemens, Auburn right-hander Casey Mize and Florida right-hander Brady Singer.
About 200 people cast ballots among national baseball media, select professional baseball personnel, previous winners and select USA Baseball staff. Those votes counted for 95 percent of the total Authentic Alex Ovechkin Jersey , with fan balloting accounting for the remainder.

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Enrique Hernandez and Matt Kemp each homered for the second consecutive game, and Alex Wood got his first victory since May 20 to help Los Angeles to its fifth straight win.
The Dodgers are 11-2 in June and 21-6 since May 17. The Giants have lost 17 of their last 23 road games and are 3-6 on their 10-game trip to Washington, Miami and Los Angeles.
Hernandez hit his 10th home run and fourth career against starter Madison Bumgarner (0-2). Kemp hit his 12th home run and has reached base in 15 of his last 18 games against the Giants. Both players went deep in a 3-2 win Friday over the Giants.
The Dodgers lead the majors with 34 home runs in 13 games in June.
Wood (2-5) was coming off a three-start stretch when he gave up 13 earned runs in 12 innings, going two innings in one start and 4 2/3 in another.
CUBS 6, CARDINALS 3
ST. LOUIS (AP) – Addison Russell and Jason Heyward homered and Ian Happ had a tiebreaking RBI double in the seventh to help Chicago rally past St. Louis.
Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks (5-6) gave up three runs and seven hits in six innings, snapping a career-high three game losing streak. Brandon Morrow got the last three outs for his 16th save in 17 chances.
Chicago trailed 2-0 and then 3-2 before Kyle Schwarber’s RBI single in the fifth tied the score for the second time. Happ’s double off Sam Tuivailala (1-2) in the seventh gave the Cubs their first lead.
Happ has three hits, including a homer, with two RBI and two runs scored in the last two games against the Cardinals, who dropped their season-high fourth in a row.
Marcell Ozuna had a two-run homer in the first and St. Louis starter Carlos Martinez had an RBI single in the fourth.
