The Kansas City Royals agreed to a $2.5 million, one-year dea Antworten

SURPRISE Ken Griffey Jersey , Ariz. (AP) — l with Martin Maldonado on Saturday, giving them a veteran catcher after losing Salvador Perez to a season-ending injury. The deal includes up to $1.4 million in incentives for games caught, according to a person familiar with the terms, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because Maldonado still must pass a physical for the contract to become official.Maldonado spent last season with the Angels and Astros, hitting .225 with nine homers and 44 RBIs in 119 games. But his biggest strength has been his ability to frame pitches and play defense, and his experience should help what is expected to be a young Royals team this season. In fact, Maldonado’s Gold Glove in 2017 broke Perez’s streak of four straight.Perez underwent Tommy John surgery last week after tearing a ligament in his throwing arm during a spring training workout. Perez is expected to remain with the club while rehabbing this season, and the hope is that the six-time All-Star will be ready by next spring.“We move on. That’s the way it is,” Royals manager Ned Yost said. “Salvy is going to be with us all year long Tony Perez Jersey , he’s going to be there doing his rehab — the rehab is a difficult process. But we have to continue to move forward.”Perez’s injury meant the Royals were poised to enter the season with Cam Gallagher, a defensive-minded career backup, and 22-year-old Meibrys Viloria, who has had just 22 big league at-bats.They had also been mulling the use of Frank Schwindel, a college catcher now at first base. But general manager Dayton Moore said he would seek a veteran backstop, whether it was through free agency or a trade. And speculation quickly settled upon the 32-year-old Maldonado, mainly because he was the only veteran that wasn’t already in a major league camp.He broke into the majors with Milwaukee in 2011 and spent his first six years there, before a season-plus with the Angeles. Los Angeles traded him to the Astros last July, and Maldonado helped the club reach the AL Championship Series before losing to the Boston Red Sox.He will have a quick turnaround before opening day.The Royals played the Diamondbacks on Saturday and face the Padres on Sunday, then have split-squad games against the Mariners and Rangers on Monday. But after that , they have just 14 more games before the start of the regular season, including split-squad games next weekend.Kansas City opens the regular season March 28 against the White Sox. ATLANTA (AP) Ronald Acuna Jr. wasn’t surprised to see another member of the Braves‘ 20-year-old club win his first start for Atlanta.Kolby Allard, supported by a 19-hit attack that included three home runs, won his major league debut and the Braves beat the Miami Marlins 11-6 on Tuesday night.”We started together in rookie ball, so I’ve seen him pitch since then,” said Acuna, who hit one of the Braves’ three homers. ”It was just as I expected. He’s a great pitcher.”Allard (1-0), a 2015 first-round draft pick, said he didn’t have his best stuff. He allowed five runs , four earned , on nine hits and two walks in five-plus innings.”I went out there and battled,” Allard said.Braves manager Brian Snitker said Allard ”didn’t look overwhelmed” and wasn’t affected by rain that delayed the start of the game by 1 hour, 27 minutes.Luke Jackson pitched three perfect relief innings with four strikeouts.Kurt Suzuki hit a three-run double in Atlanta’s five-run fourth.Acuna drove in two runs with three hits, including a leadoff homer in the first. Nick Markakis added a two-run homer and Johan Camargo also homered.Ender Inciarte had four hits and Freddie Freeman had three with an RBI as Atlanta tied its season high for hits. The Braves, who have won three straight, remained one-half game behind first-place Philadelphia in the NL East.J.T. Realmuto homered in the fifth off Allard , who was pulled after giving up three straight hits , including a run-scoring single by Magneuris Sierra, to open the sixth. Sierra drove in two runs with three hits.Allard singled in his first major league at-bat after collecting only one hit in 39 at-bats in his minor league career.”Check that box off: first game, first win and first hit Bo Jackson Jersey ,” Allard said.Allard also reached base in the fourth, when first baseman Miguel Rojas bobbled his bunt following back-to-back doubles by Inciarte and Dansby Swanson. The error helped to set up the Braves’ five-run inning, capped by Suzuki’s bases-loaded, three-run double past third baseman Martin Prado.Dan Straily (4-5) allowed eight runs, five earned, on 11 hits in 3 2/3 innings.”They obviously hit him around pretty good,” Marlins manager Don Mattingly said. ”He just didn’t seem to be sharp.”Allard became the second 20-year-old to start a game for the ”Baby Braves” this season, following Mike Soroka, who made five starts. Acuna also is 20.TRAINER’S ROOMMarlins: RHP Tayron Guerrero (left lumbar strain) came off the disabled list and was clocked at 102 mph before giving up Camargo’s homer in the sixth. Guerrero will move into what Mattingly said will be a ”high-leverage spot … some tough innings and some tough assignments” following the Ziegler trade.Braves: RHP Arodys Vizcaino, who was placed on the 10-day disabled list on July 14 for the second time this season with right shoulder inflammation Luis Aparicio Jersey , is ”still a long ways from starting to throw,” Snitker said. Vizcaino has 15 saves and a 1.65 ERA. … RHP Peter Moylan (right forearm strain) was placed on the 10-day disabled list.LONG TIME COMINGMarlins outfielder Isaac Galloway was called up for his major league debut and entered the game as a defensive replacement in the seventh. He beat out an infield single in the ninth. The 28-year-old Galloway was an eighth-round pick in 2008. He played 947 games in Miami’s minor league system before his long-awaited promotion.DEADLINE DEALSEach team was busy at the non-waiver trade deadline before the game. The Marlins obtained prospects in deals that sent outfielder Cameron Maybin to Seattle and reliever Brad Ziegler to Arizona. The Braves acquired right-handers Kevin Gausman and Darren O’Day from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for four prospects. Atlanta optioned outfielder Michael Reed to Triple-A Gwinnett to clear a roster spot for outfielder Adam Duvall, acquired from Cincinnati late Monday night.UP NEXTMarlins: RHP Pablo Lopez (2-2, 5.34 ERA) will make his sixth career start in Wednesday night’s final game of the series. It will be his first start against Atlanta.Braves: RHP Anibal Sanchez (5-3, 3.00) is 1-0 with a 1.64 ERA in three career games against Miami.—
