CHARLOTTE, N. Reggie Jackson Jersey .C. - Panthers defensive end Greg Hardys domestic violence appeal trial set for Nov. 17 has been postponed until after the NFL season, a person familiar with the situation said Thursday night. The person said the new trial date has not been set.The person told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the decision has not been announced. The change could signal the end of Hardys season — and perhaps his career — with the Panthers. The NFL and the Panthers have said Hardy would not play until after his trial was resolved, although he is still collecting more than $770,000 per week as Carolinas franchise player. He will make $13.1 million this year.Hardy will be an unrestricted free agent after the season and it is high unlikely the team will re-sign him.The Panthers placed Hardy on the exempt-commissioners permission list on Sept. 17 after he was convicted in July of assault on a female and communicating threats.Chris Fialko, Hardys attorney, said after the July 15 conviction that he would appeal the verdict, but said that he didnt think the case would be heard until at least 2015 because there were several other cases on the court docket. At that time, that was good news for Hardy since he was allowed to keep playing pending the appeal. He even played in the season opener at Tampa Bay.However, when the tape of Ray Rice hitting his then-fiance became public, the NFL and its teams were forced to be more proactive when it came to domestic violence.Hardy was declared inactive for Carolinas second game of the season and later placed on a paid leave of absence. After the decision was handed down coach Ron Rivera said he still expected Hardy to be around the teams facility. But he hasnt been back since.I believe, from what Ive been told, hes been working out and doing the thing he needs to do, Rivera said in a recent interview. Hopefully, when things are all worked out and everything comes to a conclusion everybody can go forward.Panthers owner Jerry Richardson broke down in tears while accepting an award in Charlotte on Sept. 11 following the fallout from the Hardy conviction. When it comes to domestic violence, my stance is not one of indifference, Richardson said. I stand firmly against domestic violence, plain and simple. To those that would suggest we have been too slow to act, I ask that you consider not to be too quick to judge.Over the course of our 20 years, we have worked extremely hard to build an organization of integrity and earn the trust of our community. I work hard to continue to earn the trust, and I thank you for this award.Hardy has not spoken to the media since he was placed on the exempt-commissioners permission list.In a statement last month released through the team, Hardy said, I am entitled to due process and my day in court, and thats where my focus should be. ... My decision to take a leave of absence allows me to focus on my family until the legal process has run its course. The trial could determine how much money Hardy commands on the free agent market next season. Hardy led Carolina in 2013 with 15 sacks and was selected to his first Pro Bowl.___AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP_NFL Joe Smith Pistons Jersey . Judge Thokozile Masipa is expected to receive the conclusions of a panel of one psychologist and three psychiatrists who were instructed to assess whether the double-amputee runner was capable of understanding the wrongfulness of his act when he shot Steenkamp through a closed toilet door in his home on Valentines Day last year. The assessments of a panel at a state psychiatric hospital could determine whether he should be held criminally responsible and affect the judges deliberations on a verdict or, in the event of a conviction, the severity of the sentence, according to legal analysts. The evaluation came after a psychiatrist, Dr. Merryll Vorster, testified for the defence that Pistorius, who has said he feels vulnerable because of his disability and long-held worry about crime, had an anxiety disorder that could have contributed to the killing in the early hours of Feb. 14, 2013. He testified that he opened fire after mistakenly thinking there was a dangerous intruder in the toilet. Prosecutor Gerrie Nel has alleged that Pistorius, 27, killed the 29-year-old model after an argument, and has portrayed the Olympic athlete as a hothead with a love of guns and an inflated sense of entitlement. But he requested an independent inquiry into Pistorius state of mind, based on concern the defence would argue Pistorius was not guilty because of mental illness. Pistorius defence team could get a boost if the hospital evaluation roughly aligns with the conclusions of Vorster, the defence witness, said a llegal expert observing the trial. Jerry Stackhouse Pistons Jersey. Kelly Phelps, a senior lecturer in the public law department at the University of Cape Town, said a diagnosis that Pistorius has an anxiety disorder could add weight to his account and compel the judge to consider the question: "Is it more likely that he is telling the truth about what occurred on that night?" Even if the judge rules that Pistorius is guilty despite any disorder that he is suffering, Phelps said, the diagnosis could be a mitigating factor when he is sentenced. "That is the area of law that is often referred to as diminished responsibility," she said. Other possible conclusions in the psychiatric evaluation are that Pistorius is not suffering from any anxiety disorder, which could undermine his defence. Alternatively, it might be found that he was incapable of distinguishing between right and wrong or acting in accordance with that understanding, which could lead to a verdict of not guilty because of mental illness and referral to state psychiatric care. Pistorius faces 25 years to life in prison if found guilty of premeditated murder, and could also face years in prison if convicted of murder without premeditation or negligent killing. He is free on bail. Once Judge Masipa receives the conclusions from the mental health experts, the defence will be in a position to call its few remaining witnesses, prior to closing arguments and Masipas deliberation on a verdict. If, however, the experts who observed Pistorius are not unanimous in their conclusions, the judge can call them to the stand to clarify their findings. Pistorius was evaluated as an outpatient at Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital in Pretoria, the South African capital. He has been staying at the upscale home of his uncle.
