Laramie, WY (SportsNetwork. Gerald Green Rockets Jersey .com) - The 25th-ranked Wyoming Cowboys saddle up for one of their toughest games to date, as they host the San Diego State Cowboys in Mountain West Conference action at Arena-Auditorium on Wednesday night. Wyoming is all alone atop the MWC standings, sporting an unblemished 4-0 mark, and the team has won seven straight games since bowing to California more than a month ago, 45-42, on the road. The latest triumph for the Pokes came this past Saturday as they took down the Boise State Broncos at home, 65-54. Winners of 13 straight at home, the Cowboys are off to their best start in MWC play since 2002-03, and would be setting a new team standard with a victory over the Aztecs. Up until recently, the Aztecs were one of the teams to beat in the MWC, ranking as high as 13th in the country, but an unexpected 59-57 loss to Fresno State on Jan. 3 put an end to that. The team did manage to bounce back last week with a 56-42 decision over New Mexico, the fifth win in six outings for SDSU, but still the spotlight is shining elsewhere in the conference right now. Wyoming leads the all-time series by a 39-35 margin and has been particularly dominant at home since the relationship began back in 1979, winning 26 of the 34 games played in Laramie. Last season, the Cowboys captured a 68-62 victory in the lone meeting. Despite having trouble winning in Laramie, the good news for the Aztecs is that six of their eight victories on the road in the series have come under current head coach Steve Fisher. The Aztecs won their 24th straight home game last week as Winston Shepard tallied 20 points and pulled down nine rebounds, offsetting five turnovers, as they took down New Mexico at Viejas Arena. Angelo Chol was the only other double-digit scorer for SDSU with 10 points off the bench, as the team limited the Lobos to only 29.8 percent shooting from the floor. The Aztecs survived despite hitting a mere 3-of-18 behind the 3-point line. Producing from beyond the arc has not been one of the highlights for the Aztecs this season, with the team converting only 28.0 percent on the perimeter. However, that level of accuracy still beats the competition which checks in at a mere 27.3 percent. In addition, San Diego State has been able to clamp down on almost every opponent, limiting them to 36.6 percent from the floor overall, resulting in 53.5 ppg. Offensively, the only double-digit scorer on the defensive-minded unit is Shepard with his 11.4 ppg. During their win over Boise State, the Cowboys shot better than 52 percent from the field in both the first and second halves, compared to the visitors who knocked down only 39.6 percent overall during the double-digit decision. Larry Nance Jr. was again dominant in the paint with 18 points, 10 rebounds and four blocked shots, adding four assists as well, while Josh Adams tacked on 16 points. Riley Grabau converted all 10 of his free-throw tries in order to arrive at 15 points for a team that outscored BSU at the charity stripe, 14-6. With three double-doubles on the campaign, it should not come as a surprise that Nance Jr. leads the Cowboys in both scoring (15.8 ppg) and rebounding (6.7 rpg), not to mention pacing them with 21 blocked shots and being among the team leaders with 40 assists. Adams, the top man for assists with 66, adds another 11.1 ppg to the offensive attack, but like the Aztecs this is a team that feeds off its defense, limiting opponents to only 52.2 ppg on 39.8 percent shooting from the floor. Sundays race will be held at the Sepang circuit, adjacent to Kuala Lumpurs main airport where the ill-fated flight took off earlier this month. Authorities now say it is almost certain it crashed in the Indian Ocean, killing all 239 people aboard.CHICAGO -- Having been burned by D.J. Augustin the previous night, the Boston Celtics clamped down on the Bulls guard in the second game of their home-and-home series. Boston succeeded in limiting Augustin to four points on 1-of-9 shooting, but that didnt affect the final outcome. Mike Dunleavy had 22 points on 7-for-12 shooting and Augustin handed out 11 assists to help five Bulls score in double figures for a 94-80 win over the Celtics on Monday night. "From the beginning of the game I knew they were going to do that, adjust to me," Augustin said. "I had to do some other things and find my teammates and they did a great job getting open." Joakim Noah added 19 points, 11 rebounds and five assists, Jimmy Butler scored 18 points, Carlos Boozer 16 and Taj Gibson had 14 points and 11 rebounds for Chicago, which pulled away with a 13-0 run at the start of the fourth quarter. The Bulls (42-32) moved into a tie with the Toronto Raptors -- who lost at Miami -- for third place in the Eastern Conference. "I think its very important," Dunleavy said of the third seed. "We want to get as high as we can. Not only with home-court advantage and avoiding the first seed in the second round, if were fortunate enough to advance. We just want to get as high as we can." Chicago swept the home-and-home series with the Celtics after winning 107-102 in Boston on Sunday. The Celtics have lost 10 straight on the road to drop to 8-28 away from home. Their last road win was Feb. 10 at Milwaukee. Brandon Bass and Jerryd Bayless scored 18 points apiece for the Celtics. Rajon Rondo didnt play Monday after getting 17 points and 11 assists Sunday. He is still working his way back to full strength following reconstructive knee surgery and doesnt play in back-to-back games. "It wasnt just the fourth (quarter)," Boston coach Brad Stevens said. "The first five minutes of the third and the fourth we went into a drought. We looked heavy-legged the whole secondd half. James Harden Jersey. "Thats no excuse because they played last night, too." The game was tight entering the fourth, but the Bulls went on a quick 9-0 run for an 80-70 lead with 9 1/2 minutes to play before Stevens called time out. The stoppage didnt curb the Bulls momentum. Gibson scored on vicious dunk off a nice feed from Butler to make it 82-70 and Noah capped the run of 13 straight with a post move for an 84-70 lead. Noah had six points during the spurt, including an 18-foot jumper before Bostons timeout. "Theyre a good team," Bayless said. "We dont have a lot of room for error. We made a couple of bad plays in a row and theyre too good and they got on the break and hit their shots. We have to pull it together for longer stretches of time." Although Augustin didnt score in the fourth, he played a big role by dishing out six assists as Boston overplayed him. "Thats the advantage we have with the finishing group," Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said. "The job of those guys is to read what the defence is doing." The Bulls are 10 games over .500 for the first time this season. "I think were playing pretty good basketball, but I think we can play better," Noah said. "I think the mindset is good. Everybody is working, everybody is in the weight room, everybody is trying to find ways to get better." NOTES: Home-and-home series on consecutive games used to be a regular occurrence in the NBA, but are rare these days. "Its the same plays, so theres a tendency for the players to know whats coming," Thibodeau said. "I think its good preparation for whats coming down the road." ... Since he wasnt playing because of the back-to-back, Rondo spent part of the game working on the TV broadcast back to Boston. ... Celtics G Avery Bradley left the game in the first half because of a sore Achilles. . Noah had 13 assists in Sundays game, the most ever by a visiting centre in Boston. The previous high was 11 by Wilt Chamberlain in 1968. ' ' '
